| Sure that works and looks cool and all, but in comparison that setup would be grossly impractical (not to insult the Armored Core series, of course ). First, you only have two possible weapon combinations rather than four, and second, it takes several second to swap loadouts. What I'm talking about would allow independent weapon swapping for each arm. Let me give an example. Say you're holding off multiple enemies a fair distance in front of you with an assault rifle/shotgun combo on your left arm and a HE pulse cannon/energy blade combo on your right arm (of course, since they're out of range of both the shotgun and the energy blade, you're using the pulse cannon and the assault rifle). Out of the corner of your eye, you notice an enemy unit quickly boosting up to you on your right. Firing the pulse cannon now would damage your unit and the assault rifle couldn't bring it down fast enough, so what's your best option? In a period of about 1-1.5 seconds, you swap out the assault rifle for the shotgun and fire a blast at the enemy unit to stagger it and give you a bit more time. Meanwhile, you're also swapping out your pulse cannon for your energy blade which you then use to slice the unit into several easily-digestible pieces. Delicious metallic dinner is served. | |

| Something to consider is that in the real life military we have attachments for our assault rifles/carbines. You can attach either a grenade launcher or a shotgun underneath the barrel of the main weapon system. That setup means that there is no time wasted with swiveling barrels or whatever. I do like the the general idea that you are going with, though. | |

| I thought about that, but I decided it'd still be too limited for what I'm trying to do. After all, why would you use a shotgun or a grenade launcher when you can use a shotgun and a grenade launcher without taking up any extra space? My idea is that this system could be used for virtually any weapon type. Of course, logically you'd usually want to put long and short range weapons together in each system so you have the option to have two weapons of similar range out simultaneously rather than using long/long and short/short and having only one usable arm in certain situations. Hence my rifle/shotgun and cannon/blade example. I'll try to upload a gif of the basic motion I'm talking about once I can get to my computer to take some screenshots. Maybe y'all will have some ideas for techniques I could use to make it less bulky then. EDIT: Here ya go! - Spoiler:

interesting design... I like it, but it does limit weapon re-usability. I prefer handheld weapons, but that's just me.

| So yeah, some new stuff. Haven't been doing much lately because I've been busy and I'm not sure there's an idea I haven't already done. Sabot got reworked and is now 'complete'. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Made a flight-type with VTOL lift function. The jet arms fold back for storage purposes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Another idea I had came from refitting a frame I'd built earlier. I'm trying to do something like the Tieren if it had been produced by the Pentagon. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] And an aquatic-type machine with no head! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Finally, a one-off police hover mech... THING. I don't know what it is but I built it to get out of my comfort zone. | An update to the RamPart Defense Force and their RamPart Armor Systems: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I took some of Eroomdivad's advice and did some redesigning of this configuration. The wheeled feet were made thinner and the LAZAR was removed from the left sword/shield attachment. The rotating beam cannon is a new addition. The back weapons have been removed and replaced with thrusters. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The tank configuration is complete. The other primary weapon attachment has been completed. I modeled the new back missile launchers after those found on the Earth Defense HQ set from the Alien Conquest theme. These are obviously different from the previous missile launchers that are designed as single-launch, whereas these are meant to launch four at once. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]This last image is just a mash-up of different parts just thrown together in order to show the different possibilities. As before, any and all constructive feedback is appreciated. I am still going for having these have playability, hence why I am using flick-fire missiles and such. | |

| The only thing that really sticks out to me for improvement is the head. Just seems sorta meh to me. Other than that, it looks like you've got the beginnings of a pretty good idea here. | |

I appreciate the feedback and I took a second look at the heads. I personally think that the head for the first RAS (both configurations) works well since it has a soldier/warrior look to it. However, I agree that the second design could use some work since it looks too similar to the first. Below are the three head designs that I have. I like 1, as stated previously, but 2 looks too similar and I am unsure about 3. Any suggestions? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Below is a bonus picture that I have been working on. It shows two RAS that are pulling security at a space port. This is to show how the RAS can fit in with different themes. The ultimate goal is to have it look like it can fit in with any Space theme, retired or existing. | I like number 3 for a heavy unit. It's shorter and squattier and just seems to fit better with that type of machine. It's probably just me, but I've seen triangularish-shaped heads all over the place (most notably in minimech designs) to the point where it's become bland and repetitive to me. Of course, that's not to say that it's a bad look by any means, it's just my personal opinion

I changed 3 a little bit since I saw something that I did not like and 2 got a complete overhaul. I appreciate the feedback. At some point within the near future I will post a picture for the final review.

Just saw it last night, so if you're doing what I hope you're doing, it should be pretty epic. Also, that movie was way better than it had any right to be.

I've been great, although I've done absolutely no lego-related work since you left. Also, BiO has gone inactive and promoted me to Admin in his absence. Now that you're back, this place is likely to come back alive, and I'm likely to pick my LDD work back up. Good to have you back, man!
