S'not my opinion (not yet, anyway). Just what I've heard from a few reviews and my sis. But that could just be because she watched it in 3D in a theater I know to be the worst possible one she could have gone to within a 50 mile radius of my location. And their 3D gives headaches.

Okay. Just got back from watching The Hobbit in 3D IMAX HFR. 'Twas, indeed, incredible. Because of the higher framerate though, the first part with the backstory on the mountain, Dale and Smaug looked a bit like a re-enactment from a History Channel documentary or something. But once it got past that it looked absolutely amazing.

As far as story and actual content goes, it managed to stay true enough to the book to not give me fits, so that's good. I like how they made the tone lighter than the LotR movies since that's how it was with the books too. I'm also very happy that they left Gandalf's whole "good morning" bit in since that was one of my favorite bits of Tolkien-ish dialog from the book.

All-in-all, 9/10 would definitely watch again.

A friend of mine tried to get me to read Pratchett but I think he must have handed me the worst book he wrote because even though people say it's awesome, it was actually pretty boring.
