I actually still watch it just 'cause I think the show's good and occansionally utterly hilarious with its references (for instance, there was an A-Team theme song reference just this season. Tell me thats not a good sense of who your viewers are) despite how corny it can be sometimes (hey, people still like The A-Team, right?). But yeah, the male fanbase is very childish and just plain wrong. Probably why most people don't even bother in the first place.

Oh I wasn't even referring to the adult male audience. They're obnoxious sometimes, but it's the 10-14 y/o boys that watch that make me cringe. I have a few friends on Steam that fit that description, and when they just can't shut up about MLP stuff... I have issues with people talking about one topic for a long time as it is, but when it's just "PONIES PONIES PONIES PONIES PONIES", the "Block User" option starts to call out to me louder and louder.

Well, yes. It was anyway. But then it gained an internet-active male audience. It so happened that the series' creator was also active in social media, so when she saw all these new customers, she made the very good business decision to acknowledge them and cater to them as well as the original intended audience. It just snowballed from there and now you have the little girl's show that's made for pretty much everyone to enjoy.

Just like with a lot of Disney animated movies, there are parts of it that the supposed "intended" audience will just pass over and probably not even know are there, but that the other will either chuckle or burst into applause at. I'll admit that when I heard the theme song to The A-Team (a show I had only just recently started watching), I honestly laughed out loud and said something along the lines of, "Oh they did not just do that! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

And there you have a wall o' text explaining why grown men are watching little girl's Saturday cartoons.

And yeah, BiO, I get what you mean. But I find that the "adults" are sometimes less mature about it than the kids. Whereas I don't even bother bringing it up unless someone asks. Or doesn't in this case.

Yeah, sorry. I guess people just don't enjoy it as much as I do when walls o' text are lengthened even more by a needlessly long string o' quotes. Yay words!
